Blizzard Games, Including ‘Diablo IV’, Experiencing Disruption Due to DDoS Attack

Playing Diablo IV and other Blizzard titles this weekend may be disrupted due to an apparent DDoS attack on Blizzard’s Battle.net online service since early Sunday morning. The attack has caused difficulties and potential impossibility in accessing the games. Blizzard’s customer support account tweeted at 10:24AM that they are actively monitoring the ongoing DDoS attack, which is affecting latency and connections to their games, after initially investigating an authentication issue.

As of 12:30 PM ET, the issue appears to be unresolved. “We are currently experiencing a DDoS attack that may result in high latency and disconnection for some players,” says the notice that appears when you launch Battle.net on PC. – We are actively working to mitigate this problem. When I tried to log in to Diablo IV, I was able to play the game for a while before I was disconnected. On Reddit, some players say they haven’t been able to play Blizzard’s latest game for at least 10-12 hours. At the very least, you can bet that this incident will likely renew Blizzard’s calls to add offline mode to Diablo IV.
